The Icarusum, or as it is more commonly known the Poor Man's Firework, is an organism found beneath the crashing waves on the ocean floor. It begins life as a tiny speck the size of a grain of salt, shaped like a deflated ballon. As it matures it will attach itself to a hydrothermal vent opening and inflate with water, hot air, and a myriad of minerals. This inflation causes the Icarusum to grow up to 1000 times its original size. After it has fully inflated it will begin its journey up through the dark waters towards the sky. During this journey the water is expelled, but the hot air and minerals remain. The hot air inside the Icarusum maintains its temperature because of an exothermic reaction within it and this gives it the ability to float. Unfortunately for the Icarusum a byproduct of this reaction is potassium nitrate, which is highly explosive, so by the time it has reached the sky it is doomed to explode. These explosions when seen look like a fireworks show because the minerals from the vents cause the Icarusum to explode in all sorts of beautiful colors.
